Do you know that there is a measurement of how technically advanced a civilization could be?

This thought occupied the mind of the Russian Astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev. Kardashev was born in the Soviet Russia. His parents participated in the Russian Revolution of 1917 at which time his father was shot and his mother was sent to a labor camp. Little Kardashev was sent to an orphanage. After studying astronomy and mathematics, he joined the Russian Space Institute in year 1967 and became one of its directors in 1977.
In year 1964, Kardashev introduced the idea of a scale that can measure the technical advancements of a particular civilization.
The scale was based on the presumption that the more technically advanced a civilization was, the more energy it would consume. Based on this idea, Kardashev postulated that there are three types of civilizations: Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.
What is a Type 1 civilization?
An example of a Type 1 civilization is our civilization. Type 1 civilizations are also called planetary based civilizations.
Planetary based civilizations are capable of utilizing only the local energy resources. For example, we utilize coal, water, wind, electricity and solar based energy etc. We are not yet capable of capturing, on a large scale, the energy available in the space beyond our planet. Therefore, our civilization is planetary based, or Type 1.
What is a Type 2 civilization?
This is a civilization that has learned to use star energy. Therefore, Type 2 civilizations are stellar based civilizations.
So far, Earth’s astrophysicists have developed many interesting theoretical concepts of how to harvest stellar energy. One of them is the Dyson sphere concept.
The concept was developed by Freeman Dyson in year 1960. Dyson was an English-American astrophysicist and mathematician, born in 1932. Dyson’s father was a composer and his mother was a social worker. As a boy, Freeman showed a keen interest in science. For example, at the age of four he tried to calculate the number of the atoms contained in the Sun of our solar system. Later on, Dyson became a Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Princeton. He imagined and mathematically modulated series of geometrical constructs placed around a particular star that would harvest some of the energy emanated by the star. Those constructs were later named – Dyson spheres.
What is a Type 3 civilization?
This is a civilization capable of utilizing the energy available in the galaxy. Therefore such civilization would be capable of traveling in time and space beyond the speed of light.
It is worth mentioning that thought travels instantaneously and far beyond the speed of light. For example, you can close your eyes and instantly be transported at your favorite Caribbean beach. Or, in your mental space, you can visit the Moon and the Sun in no time. This is possible because the mental space is a type of hyperspace.
To further ignite your imagination, I want to mention the concept of quantum entanglement.
This is a state that occurs when two particles or multiple particles are at close proximity to one another in the space-time continuum. In a moment of time their fields entangle. This means that the fields of the two particles entwine and no longer can be separated from the composed field.
Later on, if one of the entangled particles moves to another space, even if that space is separated by billions of light years of a distance, the two particles still remain connected. This phenomenon is expressed in the following observation: if a change occurs in one of the particles the other particle changes in a congruent fashion, instantly. Therefore, by changing one of the particles you can predict the change in the behavior of the second particle. Three famous physicists - Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen, described this paradox, which broke all laws of physics and open wide the door to endless possibilities of events in all physical realities.
